Jeremy Steffens

Senior Vice President, Crisis Communications

Jeremy is an SVP of External Affairs at Marathon Strategies, specializing in crisis and risk communications.  

His career began at large corporate brands such as Cadbury Schweppes and McGraw-Hill, and he learned the art of corporate storytelling while working for Walt Disney Company’s marketing division.  

Mr. Steffens later served in the public sector, serving as the Chief Spokesperson and Communications Director for two Members of the United States Congress, and for the Mayors of Washington, D.C., and Orlando, FL. Navigating complex policy and regulatory issues, he regularly led crisis communications and responses in partnership with government stakeholders, including the Pentagon, Homeland Security, FEMA, the VA, and the FBI. He also served as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental and Public Affairs at the U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs.  

Jeremy, a seasoned professional in the agency sector, has led significant client engagements for clients such as the NFL, AON Risk, the Pentagon, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and several prominent Fortune 100 companies. Collaborating closely with C-suites, Mr. Steffens has played a pivotal role in re-engineering their corporate communications and external affairs divisions. Additionally, Mr. Steffens provides counsel to organizations on crisis preparedness and response strategies and has personally managed numerous highly visible and widely reported crises. 

Most recently, Mr. Steffens served as the Chief Communications Officer (Head of Corp Comms) for IJM, the American Diabetes Association, and Wellstar Health, leading cohesive external affairs and communications divisions.  

Jeremy graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
