Matt Hamilton has spent more than a decade at the intersection of media and New York State government. In his role as a vice president at Marathon, Matt works with major corporations, trade associations, and others to help communicate their policy and business goals across New York State — including in Albany and New York City — and beyond. As a former Capitol Bureau reporter for City & State magazine and the Albany Times Union, Matt covered high-profile legislation, races for governor and president, and the misdeeds and trials of New York power brokers. Prior to joining Marathon in 2023, Matt served as press secretary for New York State United Teachers where he led media relations for one of the state’s largest labor unions, helping set the organization’s messaging to influence public perception around complex issues and guiding statewide and local union leaders through crisis communications challenges. Matt lives in the Albany area with his wife.
